Details on upcoming Building Consecration Service:
The service is next Thursday evening, May 30th, for Ascension Day. Our sister parishes will be there with us, and also both our bishops will be present. It is important to know that this is also our episcopal visit for the year, so it would be good also to come and greet Bishop Dan and Bishop Peter.
We will have a dinner that begins at 5:30. Please RSVP to Scott McDonald if you plan on coming to the dinner, and let us know how many will be coming with you.
The service starts at 7:00. The service is a combining of two services: The Building Consecration and the Holy Communion for Ascension Day. The official title for the Building Consecration is: A Building Consecration and Dedication of a Place for Worship. It is very similar to a House Blessing, and it can be seen as us asking the bishop’s blessings upon our building and property and all our instruments of worship that we will use for the Lord’s glory. The Building Consecration will take the first part of the service and then we will transition to Holy Communion.
Childcare will be provided.
This is a big night for Christ our Hope and for our Diocese. The provision of a new building and land is a great blessing from our Lord in a time when many churches are closing their doors and selling their property. May we be good stewards of what he has given, and celebrate with joy and with our sister churches this coming Ascension Day.
